This review is about the Super-Vee Bridge. The Super -Vee BladeRunner Bridge is designed for Fender Stratocasters and Stratocaster copy tremolo equipped guitars. Because of its blade design which replaces the traditional fulcrum or knife edge of the traditional Fender Stratocaster Tremolo Bridge, the Patented Blade Technology of the BladeRunner provides a measurable increase in sustain and tonal clarity.
The increased sustain comes from the blade which added more contact between the body of the guitar and the bridge. In comparison, the traditional fulcrum or knife edge tremolo system has limited contact between the guitar body and the tremolo bridge. This additional contact is the reason why the Super-Vee Bladerunner Tremolo Bridge produces more sustain than the stock Fender Tremolo Bridge.
It comes in two models. The 6- Screw Mount and the 2-Post Mount. The 6- Screw Mount is for the Stratocaster with six mount screws while the 2- Post Mount model is for the Stratocaster with the two post system.
This extraordinary gain can not be found in any other tremolo system due to the enhanced contact between the sustain block, the Blade, and the solid mount to the guitar body. The Blade works more like an active conduit because it provides solid contact between the bridge and the body of the guitar, transmitting a marked increase in sustain and tonal transparency.
The patented and one of a kind Blade technology is honed from an industrial grade spring steel. No matter how hard you work the tremolo bar, the Super-Vee Bladerunner Tremolo Bridge will always go back to the zero point, smoothly and effortlessly.
The “Sustainium” tone block has been crafted from a proprietary grade billet alloy. After a lot of research, this material was carefully chosen over many other materials because of its ability to provide noticeable sustain, tone, and warmth.
The tremolo bar has an adjustable nylon tension screw in the tone block to allow you to keep the tremolo bar right where you need it when you need it. The kit comes with springs, mounting screws, and adjustment wrenches.
Is this the best tremolo upgrade for the Fender Stratocaster and Stratocaster type guitar? I believe so. The stability of the original Fender Stratocaster, both the six screw mount type and the knife and two tremolo post type will not come close to the stability of the Super-Vee Bladerunner Tremolo Bridge. Even the after market types which evolve from the original and operates on the same principle can not surpass this design.
You should also note that the Super-Vee Bladerunner Tremolo Bridge is intended to replace the Fender Stratocaster Tremolo Bridge thus it is not a locking bridge. It means this bridge will not lock the strings in place like the Floyd Rose Tremolo Bridge.
Super-Vee introduced a dual locking version to compete with the Floyd RoseTremolo Bridge, but the blade will not allow the deep dive bombs you can do with a Floyd Rose.
The Floyd Rose Tremolo Bridge stabilized with a Black Box Tremolo Stabilizer is still the best tremolo system even though it is on the market for almost thirty years now.
Conclusion
Is the Super-Vee Bladerunner Tremolo Bridge the best available drop-in replacement for Fender Stratocaster Tremolo Bridge? Definitely yes.
