John Petrucci is considered as one of the best guitar players of all time. It is no question why Ernie Ball took him as the primary endorser of their Music Man Guitars. The John Petrucci Music Man Guitar models are really one of a kind. The most famous of his signature guitars is the Music Man Jp6 Mystic dream.
Fitting name from the Dream Theater guitarist. The Jp6 Mystic Dream is unique as it changes colors on different angles and of different lighting conditions. It can be a Green hue to Maroon and sometimes it looks almost black.
It doesn’t only have killer looks, but it also has a killer sound. It is fitted with DiMarzio CrunchLab pickups on the bridge and DiMarzio LiquiFire on the neck. It also has a Piezo pickups for an acoustic/ crystal clean sound. That pickup is the one you hear when John plays those really clean acoustic sounds. Sometimes you would think another player is playing acoustic on stage.I really love this guitar as Ernie Ball really makes quality guitars. I see the reason why John Petrucci switched from Ibanez to Music Man. I just wonder how John played this guitar when the neck is so narrow on the nut side considering that he has big fingers? Well, that’s what makes him up there. He is one of a kind guy.

This guitar has a warm sound to it which I really love especially with the LiquiFire pickup selected (neck position), I just love the tone of that pickup there. I have the same pickup installed on both of my Ibanez Jems but it really sounded different on the Musicman.
The CrunchLab pickup on the bridge has a real bite to the tone but not harsh. Those crunchy tones are awesome. Again one of my Ibanez Jems has CrunchLab installed on the bridge but the Musicman really sounded warmer than the Ibanez even with the same pickups.
This guitar is not the current signature guitar of John Petrucci. He has the Majesty series now. It has been known that this guitar, the Jp6 serves as the longest as his number one guitar. So does the pickups that go with it. This guitar has a lot of value to it, especially among collectors.
There is also a limited issue of this guitar. It is the BFR series. It means Ball Family Reserve. It is intended for the Ernie Ball family and friends. It is more expensive than the regular JP6 John Petrucci signature guitar.
If you are a serious guitar collector or a serious guitar player who needs nothing less than the best, then grab this guitar while it is still available.

So much information. I was having a good look around and found out some new things i never knew. You were saying in your post that this guitar has a capability of sounding like a real acoustic guitar. If it is a long time signature guitar of John Petrucci, he must have love it so much. It’s amazing how you can learn new things everyday.

Hi Scott,
The Musicman Jp6 John Petrucci signature guitar has Piezo pickups which can produce studio quality acoustic sound aside from the magnetic pickups that a regular electric guitar would have. John loved this guitar model so much.
Thanks for the comments,
