My Squier Standard Stratocaster review. Are you looking for a good beginner guitar? This guitar could be your best choice. Squier series guitars are the entry level guitars of Fender. Although these are cheaper guitars they have produced, they are manufactured and guaranteed by Fender.

What is a Squier Standard Stratocaster Guitar?
The Squier Standard Stratocaster is the top of the line among the Squier Series. It is patterned after the Fender American Standard Stratocaster Series which is the top of the line of Fender guitar. In that sense, the Squier Standard Stratocaster has 22 frets (like the American model) and two point pivot bridge ( like the American model).
Although it is emulating the American Model, this guitar is far from the American Model both in quality, and tone as the American Model has the best tonewood and hardware.
The Squier Standard Stratocaster, as all the Squier Series use Agathis as the tonewood for the body and the neck is made of maple and a choice of maple or rosewood fretboard. The body of this guitar, as well as all the Squier Series, is thinner than the Fender Standard Stratocaster (made in Mexico) and also the Fender American Standard Stratocaster.
These guitars are manufactured by the Fender factory in Indonesia or China, and Fender standards regulate it.
What Are the Series of Squier Guitars?
It comes in three series
- Squier Bullet Series – the cheapest one and patterned after the Fender Standard Stratocaster (made in Mexico). It has 21 frets and has the six-point bridge.
- Squier Affinity Series- mid level price and patterned after the Fender Standard Stratocaster (made in Mexico). It has 21 frets and has the six-point bridge.
- Squier Standard Series- top of the line among the series and patterned after the Fender American Standard Stratocaster. It has 22 frets and has the two point pivot bridge.
Squier Standard Stratocaster Pricing
The Squier Standard Stratocaster guitar is priced at $249 plus tax and shipping. This guitar is about $50 more expensive than the Affinity series. This could be a better choice than the Affinity if you need 22 frets.
Conclusion
This guitar is a good guitar for beginners, and I highly recommend this as a beginner guitar. This guitar may not have the bells and whistles of the American model, but this guitar is a very capable musical instrument. One advantage of this entry level guitar is the parts availability. It is very easy to find replacement parts that are compatible with this guitar.
Although there are so many upgrades available for this guitar, I will not recommend this guitar for upgrades as the guitar body is not Alder which is used by the Fenders. The guitar body is also thinner which do not have the resonance of the Fenders. It is not worth to install an expensive pickup on this guitar.

No question about it! A Fender Squire is one of the best choices for starter guitar that I know of, but I would have to say as a caveat, that if you are a teenager, say 15 or older, you may want to think about a full sized Strat.
That said, if you’re a parent looking for a great guitar for a youngster to learn on, a Squire is a GREAT choice. They also have some Squire starter kits, too, which include a gig bag, DVD a tuner and other accessories,

Squiers are full sized Stratocasters, but they just have a thinner body, if that’s what you mean. You are absolutety right, Squiers do have a starter pack, but included in the package is the mid level Affinity Stratocasters, not this model. I agree with you about JamPlay. It is the best online.

Nice review of the Squier Standard Stratocaster. Not a bad choice if you are just starting out. Of course, that is what hints at the reason they put Squier on the guitar. Overall I have played a few of them that were owned by my friends and it is not that bad if you just starting to learn the ropes on becoming a guitar player. Also do not give up because we know that playing the guitar can be a challenge, but can really open your eyes to music.
